Most metal buttons are made of copper as the core product, while nylon, rubber and alloy are mixed products. For the majority of clothing customers, understanding the products to be used can be used more effectively in production, improve procurement quality, and cooperate with designers to carry out work.

  1. Basic knowledge of button products

The general types of buttons are as follows:

  a. Copper (iron) products

  b. Nylon and rubber products

  c. Alloy products (metal buttons)

  d. Wood and other materials

Appendix: Buttons are classified by material: metal buttons (also called hardware buttons or alloy buttons, such as zinc-aluminum alloy buttons), resin buttons, plastic buttons, fruit buttons, coconut buttons, cloth-covered buttons (also called cloth-covered buttons), beaded buttons, wooden buttons, urea buttons, leather buttons, shell buttons, ceramic buttons, stone buttons, etc.

  2. Core product type characteristics

  1. Snap button (also known as four-in-one button), mostly used for windbreakers, leather clothes, casual clothes, children's clothes, etc.

1). The changes will be on the button surface (including material, size, color, LOGO), and then matched with the corresponding bottom three pieces. The four common materials for button surfaces are: copper, alloy, nylon, and rubber. (Copper and alloy surfaces are metal materials, nylon and rubber are plastic materials, nylon is hard, and rubber is soft.

2). Four commonly used base specifications: beaded base #484 (also known as #408), #486 (also known as #409), sewing base #405, #406

3). From the production process, there are two types of snap button surfaces: one is stamping parts, the other is die-casting parts. Copper button surfaces are stamping parts, and alloy and plastic button surfaces are die-casting parts. Due to the different processes, alloy and copper button surfaces are more capable of making snap button surfaces with different styles and designs.

4). The biggest requirement of snap buttons is the control of pulling force, and the prerequisite is the selection of copper materials. How to distinguish the quality of products? You can distinguish them from the appearance, shape, electroplating color, weight comparison and other aspects.

  2. Denim buttons (also known as I-shaped buttons), mostly used on denim clothing, and in recent years also used on casual wear

1). Traditional I-shaped buttons are made of a single copper material. Due to fierce competition, fashion has become more diversified in recent years, and the materials used have also changed accordingly. The most commonly used button surface is alloy die-casting, which has led to professional knowledge such as grinding and polishing.

2). In terms of style, I-shaped buttons are mainly divided into the following types:

  Plastic core I-shaped button-screw/arrow nail

Single needle button - short double nail

  Rotating I-shaped button-long double-cut nail

Double needle button - copper double needle nail

3). Based on the material, the I-shaped buttons can be divided into:

  Copper I-shaped button

  Alloy surface I-shaped button

  Plastic button

4). Copper and alloy I-shaped buttons are commonly used denim buttons, because copper stamping and alloy die-casting can produce various styles and industrial styles of I-shaped buttons, which are more suitable for the needs of clothing production.

  3. Chicken eyelet (usually paired with button)

1). There are two commonly used materials for chicken eye mesons: copper and iron.

Copper eyelets are mostly used on windbreakers, leather jackets, casual wear and denim clothing.

  2). Commonly used copper eyelets are available in the following specifications: 1# 2# 3# 4# 5# 2L 3L 4L

  20L 22L 24L 25L 26L 27L 28L 29L 30L 34L

3). When using eyelet products, if the fabric is too thin or elastic, glue should be added to avoid damaging the fabric.

4). The most commonly used style of eyelets is round. In order to meet the needs of clothing production, there are also some special styles, such as square eyelets, oval eyelets, mesh eyelets, etc.

  4. Claw buttons (also known as four-in-one buttons) are mostly used in children's clothing, women's clothing and a small amount of casual wear.

  1). Five-claw buttons are generally made of copper. Common specifications include: #111 (specification: 6.9mm) #222 (specification: 9.5mm) #333 (specification: 10.2mm) #555 (specification: 15mm) #666 (specification: 17mm) #888 (specification: 21mm)

  2). Common styles of five-claw buttons include: double-circle five-claw, beaded five-claw, etc.

3). To meet the needs of clothing production, five-prong buttons can also be equipped with a variety of beaded styles, including: color, pattern, LOGO, etc.; because five-prong buttons are mostly used in children's clothing, EU countries are extremely cautious about environmental protection and chemicals that harm children (mainly refers to direct contact with the skin), and have formulated corresponding legal standards, so the electroplating of five-prong buttons is generally non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

  5. Nail

Products that coexist with denim buttons have basically the same scope of use, mainly used on denim clothing.

1). Rivets are generally divided into the following styles:

Flat bead rivets, reverse bead rivets, ball rivets, perforated rivets

2). The materials of rivet products are mainly divided into copper and alloy products.

  3. Key points of hardware products

  1. Electroplating issues

Electroplating is an essential and important part of every hardware buckle product.

1). According to the type of electroplating, it is divided into: rolling electroplating and hanging electroplating.

  a. Rolling electroplating is used for products that do not require high appearance of hardware buckles. The surface of the hardware products electroplated by it will not be very bright and there will be scratches. Of course, the electroplating cost is also low. Eyelets, rivets, five-claw buttons, and snap button bottoms are generally rolled electroplated. b. Hanging electroplating is used for products that require high appearance of hardware buckles, such as alloy snap button surfaces, small hardware pin buckles, and hardware chains. They are generally hung electroplated.

2). From the environmental protection aspect, it can be divided into: electroplating with lacquer and electroplating without lacquer.

Electroplating is the process of turning color into a thin film through chemical treatment and attaching it to the surface of the product. If the "lacquer" component penetrates during the electroplating process, it will not meet the national environmental protection standards.

Lat plating; if there is no "lat" component in the electroplating process, it is called no-lat plating. Of course, no-lat plating of hardware products also has requirements for raw materials. If the raw materials contain "lat", no-lat plating cannot be done. (For example: the raw material is iron, because it contains excessive "lat" components, products made of iron materials cannot be used for no-lat plating.)

3). Commonly used electroplating colors include: green bronze, black bronze, red bronze, lacquer, matte lacquer, black lacquer, light black lacquer, dark black lacquer, etc. There are also some special spray colors: such as semi-gloss spray, full-gloss spray, matte spray, etc.

  2. Needle detector

The principle is to detect iron through magnetic field. When testing products containing iron, turning on the needle detector will send out a warning signal. Generally, factories use needle detectors as environmental testing machines for hardware products.

Matters needing attention in continuous dyeing of ribbons

2024-11-19

1. Factors of ribbon blanks: First of all, we should pay attention to whether the yarn used in the ribbon blanks is from the same batch, because the "oil" contained in different batches of yarn is different. If it is blended, it will become a factor of the color in the dyeing process; secondly, whether the blank has been pre-treated. The dyeing effect of the refined blank is very good, because the "oil" on the yarn is removed after treatment, and the dye can be directly in contact with the fiber for dyeing without protection.
